Microsoft released a new wave of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 packages on June 30, 2009. At over three months since Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 were released to manufacturing, the Redmond company is making sure that customers worldwide will be able to integrate the second service pack for the two platforms in their supported native language.

AMD has begun circulating a special demonstration version of its Phenom II X4 processor that it won't actually sell.

Known as the "AMD Phenom II X4 42 Black Edition TWKR," the chip is not for sale, although AMD's Phenom II X4 is. And that's the point, much like car manufacturers compete in Formula 1 or NASCAR with vehicles that can't be purchased by the average consumer.

Gateway gave updates to their P series FX gaming notebooks today that provide models that are cheaper for consumers. While the updates weren’t trumpeted out with fanfare, they are still important to note. First up is the P-7809u, a 17-inch notebook with a Montevina 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo processor, a 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM. Pricing is expected to be around $1,250 though a release date is not yet known.

PQI announced the release of their Cool Drive U360 today, which works by connecting computers by means of the USB port. This gadget makes it so file transfers can be completed between the computers at speeds of up to 17MB/s. The U360 will be available in sizes spanning from 4GB to 16GB and contains software that’s meant to allow folders between computers sync up.

It surely didn’t escape anyone’s attention Twitter is on track to becoming a mass phenomenon globally. The service is also growing nicely in Japan where it has been embraced by the geek community in particular (Japanese is the only alternative language Twitter is available in until today).
